Our Mission
The mission of Historic Waco is to preserve the heritage of Waco and McLennan County, Texas for future generations and to present enriching diverse historical experiences for audiences of all ages.
Our mission is fulfilled through educational programming, community lectures, diverse exhibitions, and through our three interpreted house museums that are open to the public: Earle-Napier-Kinnard House, East Terrace House, and McCulloch House.
To maintain its tax-exempt status, Historic Waco is prohibited from engaging in political activities, including endorsing or opposing candidates for public office, making political contributions, or participating in campaign activities. This restriction ensures Historic Waco's focus remains on the mission to preserve the heritage of Waco and McLennan County, Texas for future generations and to present enriching diverse historical experiences for audiences of all ages rather than influencing political outcomes.
After a challenging year in 2020, the Historic Waco Staff and Board underwent a strategic planning process to focus the vision and goals for the organization going forward. This work of the board and the staff identified the four big goals for the organization to be:
Strengthen Financial Security
Focus on Growing Digital Platforms
Increase Public Awareness & Engage More Diverse Communities
Enhance the Visitor Experience
The goals outlined here will help the organization reach these goals in order to better fulfill our mission to preserve the heritage of Waco and McLennan County, Texas for future generations and to present enriching diverse historical experiences for audiences of all ages.
